Konecto Subfloor Requirements

I have recently had several calls pertaining to sub floor requirements when it comes to Konecto vinyl flooring.  I just wanted to take a moment to cover some basics on these requirements that we, at www.Flooringmarket.com, stand by.

All sub floors that Konecto floors will be installed over must have very little flexibility.  Wood sub floors, and OSB have both been approved for use under Konecto vinyl as long as they are sturdy, and flat.

Cement sub floors are also approved for use under Konecto, but if there are any voids, or cracks, a cementitous patching compound should be used to prevent any of these impurities from mirroring onto the Konecto once installed.  For further information on types of cementitous compounds accepted visit www.flooringmarket.com.

Many customers who call www.flooringmarket.com are surprised to hear that you can, in fact, install Konecto directly over ceramic tile.  Just be sure that any grout lines that are over 1/8 of an inch wide, be patched with a cementitous compound so that the Konecto is installed over a smooth surface.

More surprising to our customers though, is that Konecto can be installed over radiant heat.  The requirements are more strict for these applications, and installation does take longer, but it can be done with great results.

Radiant floor heat must be installed and fully operating for 3 weeks prior to installing Konecto.  This ensures that all moisture is driven out and the temperature is calibrated properly.  Floor heat should be turned off 3 days prior to installing your Konecto, and 6 days after.  This will allow for Konecto's adhesive to fully cure without disruption.

At Flooring Market Inc. customer satisfaction is a top priority.  If you have any questions regarding installation, or there is anything else you may have questions about, please feel free to visit our site at www.Flooringmarket.com
