How long have you been in the flooring business?
Since 1989 I have worked in all aspects of the flooring business for various large flooring companies in Chicago. Four years ago my partner Roxanne Charnock and I started Flooring Market.
What is the favorite part about your position at Flooring Market?
I love what I do so there are many things about it that I think are great. Working with our team here is one great thing. At Flooring Market we are fortunate to have great people on our team who are dedicated, knowledgeable, and committed to helping build the best flooring company in the U.S.
Another favorite part is the clients from around the U.S. and the world that we work with. Every day is different. One day we will be working with the Coast Guard helping them with new flooring for a U.S. Coast Guard station. The next day it’s helping a young family on a limited budget find the perfect flooring at the right price for their new home. The day after that it’s a nursing home that needs a durable flooring that will be clean, comfortable, and beautiful for the people who live there.

What type of flooring do you have in your home?
I have a pre-finished engineered Santos Mahogany hardwood floor. It is a floating installation over Quiet Walk underlayment. Many homeowners don’t realize that an engineered hardwood floor is actually a better product than a solid hardwood for many applications. Because engineered floors are created in layers of wood that alternate direction they are more dimensionally stable than a solid wood floor.
